OUTLAW NASHVILLE ROUNDUP
Radisson Hotel at Opryland, October 7 - 11, 2010

Outlaws, Mavericks, and Roadrunners, all 89 of them, arrived from 21 states at the Roundup to be greated with a Welcome Bag that contained "a taste of Tennessee" and an Outlaw logo watch.  Afterwards, they gathered in the hospitality room to get reacquainted and socialize before the dinner.  The Gaylord Opryland Hotel's chefs prepared our buffet Arrival Dinner composed of great tasting food.  After dinner, we adjourned to the hospitality room for more socializing and viewing the 75 items on the Silent Auction table.  These items were donated by VLOA members and businesses.

Each morning began with a enhanced continental breakfast and lots of coffee.  Friday morning and afternoon's events included a bus tour of downtown Nashville, followed by a fabulous private seating and buffet meal in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (CMHFM) lobby.  Afterwards, attendees toured the CMHFM, with some just resting and socializing.  The evening was available for "on your own" activities.

Saturday morning, we conducted out General Membership Meeting where a number of important items were discussed for decision or information purposes:  elected officers for the coming two years, with Bob Koonce elected as National Director; Jim Donnelly elected to new position of VLOA Historian; approved dues increase to $25 for Regular Members; approved higher levels of Life Member; approved new membership category of Life Member Associates (without vote) for $100; discussed ways to improve revenue streams while reducing expenditures; discussed reunion committee and coordinators; discussed continuity files; dealt with copyright issues; and discussed future of Sanford Hall.  The rest of the day was spent "on your own" until we departed for the Grande Ole Opry, where we were treated to performances by Trace Adkins, Taylor Swift, and the one and only Dolly Parton during the Opry's 85th anniversary of performances in the Opry House.  After the show, we returned to the hospitality room for more bidding on the Silent Auction and socializing.

Sunday morning, John Doyle (our Chaplain) provided a nondenominational service.  The rest of the morning and afternoon was spent "on your own."  Our Farewell Dinner was held Sunday night, with the program including:  invocation, Pledge of Allegience, Missing Comrade Ceremony, light humor by Ernie Isbell, and another fabulous meal.  After dinner, we were entertained by The Swingin' Dores from Vanderbilt University with five great songs.  Afterwards, awards were presented to Bob Koonce for his decade of contributions and support to the VLOA, and to Frank and Ann Estes for their contributions during the past two years, efforts that obtained VLOA's tax-exempt status, and planning for and conducting the Roundup.  After dinner, bidders obtained and paid for their Silent Auction items, and there was lots of socializing.

If you were not able to attend the Outlaw Nashville Roundup, we were thinking about you and want you to know that you missed a great Roundup!  If you didn't come, please make plans now to attend the 2012 Roundup at a location to be announced in the near future.  We were able to amass about $8,000 from the Silent Auction, 50/50 raffle, Quartermaster sales, new memberships, new Life Member Associates, and donations.  So, the VLOA is on sound financial footing for the coming two years.  Thanks go to a lot of people, and to those who attended the Roundup - - - you are the financial lifeblood of the Outlaw nation.  Thanks to all who contributed and to those who attended.  Thanks also go to a lot of companies and individuals who made the Outlaw Nashville Roundup 2010 a roaring success.  Frank & Ann Estes planned, coordinated, and conducted our Roundup by interfacing with a lot of people and companies.  We received support, donations, and/or assistance from the companies listed below.  If you have the chance, please patronize these companies wherever possible.
